‘Fresh Trouble’ For Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, As Interior Minister Is Set To Be Grilled By CCB

The Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) is scheduled to question Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo about her alleged involvement in an N438 million contract “fraud” at the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The Minister’s involvement is based on his association with a company, New Planet Projects reported to have secured a consultancy deal in the fraud allegation rocking the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The Minister in charge of the Ministry, Betta Edu, has already been suspended by President Bola Tinubu due to the fraud allegation.

The CCB on Monday, confirmed that Tunji-Ojo has been invited for an investigation, with the Minister asked to appear before it on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at the CCB Headquarters, Federal Secretariat Complex, Abuja.

The letter was signed by the CCB Director, Investigation and Monitoring, Gwimi S.P on behalf of the CCB Chairman, Murtala Aliyu.

“Date: Tuesday, 16th January, 2024. Time: 1100hrs prompt. Venue: CCB Headquarters on 5th Floor, Annex III, Phase I, Federal Secretariat Complex, Abuja.

This invitation is pursuant to the mandate and powers of the Bureau as enshrined in the Third Schedule, Part I, Paragraph 3 (e) to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended. Please be properly guided,” it read.

Previously, the Interior Minister had denied any wrongdoing regarding the consultancy deal, stating that he resigned from the company in 2019 when he wanted to contest a National Assembly seat.
