Nigeria’s Vice President (VP), Kashim Shettima, on Thursday, chaired the National Economic Council (NEC) meeting at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

News360 Info learnt that journalists were barred from the meeting and were only stationed outside waiting to be briefed on the outcome.

State governors from across the Federation and other stakeholders are expected to be present at the meeting.

There are expectations that issues to be discussed at the week’s NEC meeting may border on the current economic challenges in the country occasioned by the removal of the petrol subsidy.

Also expected to be discussed are security challenges across the country, with recent attacks in some parts of the North.

The NEC meeting comes about 24 hours after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited announced that it secured a $3 billion Emergency Crude Repayment Loan from the African Export-Import Bank (AFREXIM) Bank, Naija News reports.
