2023: Peter Obi’s Investment For Anambra Now Worth Nothing – Soludo

Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has said the investment done by the former Governor of the state, Peter Obi, is now worth next to nothing.

Soludo made the disclosure on Thursday during an appearance on Politics Today, a political programme on Channels Television.

Recall that Obi, who served as Anambra Governor between 2006 and 2014, had in 2018 said he invested $20 million in International Breweries on behalf of the South East state while he was in office.

Speaking during the interview, Governor Soludo said the value of the investment made by the presidential candidate of the Labour party (LP) on behalf of the state is nothing.

The former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), however, did not specify if the investment in reference was that of International Breweries.

He said: “I don’t know about the investment. I’m not talking about the investments of any of my predecessors. By the way, the one that you talked about I don’t know about that. I think there was something I read about somebody speculating about whatever investment. With what I’ve seen today, the value of those investments is worth next to nothing. So, let’s leave that aside.”

Speaking further, Soludo took a swipe at Obi, saying that he would rather invest in infrastructure that will better the lives of his people than invest in a private company.

He said: “First of all, you have to rebuild the public infrastructure, that is building the future.

We are investing in our schools and hospital. We are creating Anambra as Africa’s leisure entertainment hub; modernising our cities; embarking on urban regeneration; giving our people light so that they can have quality air to breathe; controlling pollution, and dealing with flooding and erosion.

I’m not going to leave those and say I’m saving money to go and invest in a private company.”
