The APC Vice Presidential candidate, Sen. Kashim Shettima has broken his silence on the disputed Muslim-Muslim ticket.
The APC Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had chosen Shettima, a Muslim to be his running mate ahead the 2023 presidency.
There have been divergent views on the choice of Muslim-Muslim ticket entered in by the APC presidential candidate.
Some are against the move, others welcomed the development. Those against it were saying there is an attempt to Islamise Nigeria by the decision of Tinubu and APC.
Shettima, who spoke in Abuja said they are accusing Tinubu of an attempt to Islamise the country, asking whether he had started with Islamising his own family.
He added that even though Tinubu is a Muslim and chose a Muslim running mate, but his life mate for over 40 years is not only a Christian, but a pastor at the Redeemed Christian Church of God.
According to him, “He did not enforce his own Islamic faith on his own children. He was the first governor to hand over mission schools to the owners, and he has groomed people from all walks of life.”
Shettima said Nigerians had to look at the larger picture and that the task before them is to transform this nation into a just and fair society where everyone would have a sense of belonging.
“We are a kaleidoscope of colours; we should learn to accommodate and embrace each other.” he said.
