Twenty-year-old Manchester United striker, Mason Greenwood has been released on bail after being interrogated by police over the alleged rape and assault of his ex-girlfriend, Harriet Robson.
News360 Info had earlier reported that the striker was arrested on Sunday after images and videos were posted online.
Greenwood on Tuesday was further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.
Even though Greater Manchester Police did not disclose the name of the footballer, its statement reads, “A 20-year-old man arrested on Sunday January 30 2022 on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman has been released on bail pending further investigation.”
The spokesman of the police who confirmed the development to AFP said, “The man has been released on bail for everything.”
In a related development, FIFA 22 video game has removed Greenwood from EA Sports amid allegations of rape and physical assault.
Following the latest update for the title, which was released on all platforms including PlayStation, Xbox, and PC on Tuesday, February 1, 2021, Greenwood no longer features on the game’s offline modes.
