Fresh reports have emerged stating that social ride apps Uber and Bolt (formerly Taxify) have increased their fares following the ban on motorcycles popularly called Okada and tricycles in Lagos state.
Uber and Bolt have wasted no time in milking the new situation to their advantage as ride fares have reportedly doubled.
A Bolt user revealed how the Ikeja-Ogba trip which usually costs N600 to N700 because of the short distance now costs N1400 even without traffic.
Uber users complained of the same issue lamenting over the exorbitant price of trips since Lagos state government banned Okada and Keke riders from plying state roads.
Commuters have taken to the streets of Twitter to call out the government, blaming them for the difficulties encountered in transportation for people who have no personal cars.
LASG in its defense, disclosed the government will be introducing 65 new buses to aid movement in the state.
However, this new development angered Lagos road users who argued 65 buses will never be enough to cater to the transportation needs of the massive population in Nigeria’s commercial capital.
