Nigeria’s national football team, the Super Eagles, have moved up four spots on the FIFA ranking with the latest ranking released on Thursday by the world football governing body.

The Super Eagles moved from 46th spot in the world to the 42nd position.

In Africa, the Super Eagles maintain its third position on the ladder just behind Senegal and Tunisia respectively.

Morocco, Congo DR, Ghana, Cameroon, Egypt, Burkina Faso and Mali occupy the remaining spots in Africa’s top ten teams.

In March, the Eagles have played two competitive games and won both. Nigeria rounded off their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying series, with a 3-1 win over Seychelles, before beating Egypt 1-0 three days later in an international friendly.

Belgium holds on to the number 1 spot in the latest FIFA world football rankings.

The top three positions are unchanged with World Cup winners France in the second spot ahead of Brazil, in third.

England moves up one place on the strength of convincing Euro 2020 qualifier wins against the Czech Republic and Montenegro last month while Croatia, who reached the 2018 World Cup final before losing to France, retreat one place to fifth.
