The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested the Deputy Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Goodluck Jonathan Campaign Organisation for the 2015 presidential election, Dr. Ngozi Olojeme.
The suspect, also the wife of Jonathan’s late Chief Security Officer, Felix Obuah, reported herself to the EFCC on Monday after she was declared wanted in June 2017.
Olojeme was accused of diverting N68 billion when she served as the Chairman of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund from 2009 to 2015.
She was said to have fled the country after her sack by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.
Olojeme was accused via a petition of having mismanaged and diverted N50 billion from the Employee Compensation Scheme fund paid by Ministries, Departments and Agencies and private companies.
There is also another allegation of the mismanagement and diversion of N18 billion, being the contributions of the Federal Government as take-off grants to the NSITF.
The fund was allegedly diverted into the personal accounts of Olojeme and the Managing Director of the NSITF, Umar Abubakar.
She was still being detained on Thursday night as at press time.
