Polices Arrests Dozens in London’s Million Mask March

0

The annual Million Mask March in London ended in the arrest of 47 people, mostly for drug offenses and obstruction of officers.

Thousands of supporters of the hacker group Anonymous wore Guy Fawkes masks and gathered in Trafalgar Square to protest capitalism and promote civil liberties. Apart from the arrests, the demonstration avoided a major violent incident, unlike last year when four police officers were injured by missiles and fireworks thrown at them.

Due to concerns that something similar could occur this year, the protest was restricted to three hours, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on a path between Trafalgar Square and Whitehall.

The Press Association reported that angry scenes erupted when police formed a ring outside parliament and told protestors to remain in their boundaries.
