Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has relieved the state Accountant General Dr. Danjuma Adamu of his job.
The decision by the governor to sack Mahmud is believed to have been at the behest of members of the Kano State House of Assembly.
The lawmakers had on June 20, 2016 passed a vote of no confidence on the Accountant General based on claims that he lacks the wherewithal to oversee the finances of the state.
The lawmakers accused Adamu of ignoring several calls by the Assembly to explain some issues related to the finances of the state, and that he doesn’t keep financial records of the state because he is not well grounded because as a professional accountant.
Our correspondent learnt that last week Tuesday, the State House of Assembly formally wrote a letter of reminder to governor Ganduje to get the rid of Dr. Adamu.
