Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) in conjunction with the Department of State Services (DSS) have intercepted 63 tucks laden with fuel meant to be diverted to illegal destinations.
Speaking to newsmen on the seizure in Kano yesterday, DPR Operations Controller for Kano and Jigawa states, Alhaji Isah Tafida, said out of the 63 trucks some were meant for Bauchi and Yobe states, while those meant for Kano were delivered to the various stations and sold at approved government price.
He said DPR offices in Gombe and Maiduguri were put on alert over the trucks dispatched to their respective states to ensure delivery and monitor sales to the public.
He stated that an intensive monitoring operation on distribution of PMS has reduced the long queues at petrol stations and to be sold at government approved price.
He stressed that the sanction, penalty and fine on erring filling stations were ongoing, affirming that any marketer found violating the petroleum regulations and guidelines would be accordingly sanctioned.
He commended the media and security agencies for responding to DPR call on according maximum cooperation to the regulatory agency to move forward, stressing that the effort had greatly contributed in jettisoning the lingering fuel scarcity.
