An Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun State on Tuesday remanded a 41-year-old man, Yusuf Garuba, in prison custody for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl.
Garuba, who resides at 29 Adura Street, Ijaye, a suburb of Lagos State, is being tried on a charge of defilement.
The Prosecutor, Sergeant Rosemary Samson, told the court that the accused had an unlawful carnal knowledge of the girl at 4, Ajayi Street, Ota, Ogun State.
Samson said the offence contravened Sections 215 and 249 of the Criminal Code, Revised Law of Ogun State, 2006.
The Magistrate, Temitope Adebutu, ordered that the accused should be remanded in prison custody pending the advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Adebutu adjourned the case till December 4 for mention.
