Yoruba Nation: 48 agitators arrested in Lagos granted bail

A Lagos State Magistrate Court sitting in Yaba has granted bail to 48 Yoruba Nation agitators.

They were arrested on July 3 in Ojota during the rally organized to demand the actualization of an independent state of Yoruba.

Maxwell Adeleye, Ilana Omo Oodua spokesman, told reporters the separatists are to provide N300,000 with two sureties each.

One of the sureties must be a family member. The other is a community leader or clergy with proof of tax payment.

On July 1, two days before the event, the Department of State Services (DSS) breached the home of the promoter, Sunday Igboho.

Igboho, who was declared wanted after the operation which caused the death of his allies, has gone into hiding.
