Shehu Sani reacts as bandits vow to kill Greenfield students on Tuesday

A former federal legislator, Shehu Sani, has called on those in authority to do everything possible to ensure that the abductors of students of Greenfield University, Kaduna State, do not kill them.

The kidnappers, who are suspected bandits, have vowed to kill the remaining 17 students if the ransom is not paid.

News360 Info had recently reported that about 22 students were abducted from the university campus on April 20 when gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded the school premises.

The gunmen within a week, killed five of the victims as the state governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai vowed not to engage in negotiations with any bandit.

The leader of the bandits who identified himself as Sani Idris Jalingo, while speaking in an interview on Hausa Service of Voice of America (VOA) said the remaining students would be killed if the government failed to meet their demand.

According to him, the demand includes N100 million and 10 brand Honda motorcycles which he referred to as ‘Boko Haram’.

“The clock ticks for the lives of these young Nigerians and for the honour of their avoidable tragedy needs no tears afterwards.”

The former lawmaker further warned the Governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, who recently asked Nigerians to seek divine intervention to the security issues bedeviling the country.

“Kebbi Governor asked Nigerians to seek ‘Divine Intervention’…Mr. Governor is careful with that call for ‘Divine Intervention’… the Intervention fit to come in the way you no go like am.”
