Pregnant woman, policemen killed in bank robberies in Agbara

At least five persons including a pregnant woman and two policemen were on Thursday killed during a vicious robbery attacks in commercial banks at Agbara Industrial Estate, Ogun state.

Also killed by stray bullets fired by the daredevil robbers who announced their presence with sporadic and indiscriminate gunshots were two motorcyclists, while several others were seriously injured.

Just as the Agbara armed robbery attack was ongoing, another group of robbers attacked bank customers at 23 Road, Festac Town, Amuwo Odofin, Lagos, fleecing their victims of huge sums of money.

NEWS360 INFO gathered that the hoodlums stormed 23 Road at about 8:00am, about the same time the Agbara invaders raided six commercial banks in the estate.

The attacks are the latest in series of armed robbery operations by suspected vandals and militants from the creeks, targeting commercial banks and other financial institutions.

The hoodlums on Wednesday raided several financial institutions around Oshodi, Ajegunle and Onipanu areas of Lagos, carting away huge sums of money.

Our correspondent gathered that the criminals, who escaped in a commercial bus and about 10 power bikes, had several bags starched with cash.

It was learnt that they abandoned the commercial bus around Charity Bus Stop in Oshodi, for fear of being caught in traffic.

They were said to have alighted from the bus, hurriedly removed the money from it, with three of them mounting each of the power bikes.

In Agbara, the robbers numbering about 20, including some females, reportedly stormed the area in gestapo style, robbing the six banks simultaneously.

They were said to have worn military camouflage, carrying sophisticated weapons with which they held residents and workers hostage for about three hours.

The robbers, who arrived Agbara in two speed boats, reportedly hijacked two vehicles- a Sports Utility Vehicle and a bus, and rode right through Agbara market to Bank Road, which was their target.
