PDP demands Emefiele’s resignation, investigation over alleged fraud

The Peoples Democratic Social gathering (PDP) on Thursday demanded the instant resignation and prosecution of the Governor of the Central Financial institution of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, going by allegations by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that he superintended over large looting of funds within the apex financial institution.

The get-together made the decision in an announcement by Kola Ologbondiyan, its Nationwide Publicity Secretary, on Thursday.

It referred to as on the Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee (EFCC) to right away invite Emefiele for questioning over allegations by the Nationwide Secretary of the unlawful APC Nationwide Caretaker Committee, Senator John Akpan Udoedehe, that the CBN governor supervised the pillaging of the nation’s vaults below his watch.

He stated Nigerians have been shocked when Udoedehe on Channels TV programme “Politics Immediately” of Wednesday, September 15, 2021, revealed that the CBN governor supervised the stealing of cash within the apex financial institution, a growth for which he has to be investigated by the EFCC and if discovered wanting, prosecuted.

He added that PDP has waited every week for Udoedehe to recant on his assertion or for Emefiele to repudiate the APC Nationwide Secretary.

“Our get-together insists that past Akpan Udoedehe’s allegation, the tenure of Emefiele as CBN governor below the APC administration has witnessed colossal failures of financial and financial insurance policies, requiring him to vacate the workplace and hand himself over for investigation.

It’s instructive to notice that when Emefiele took the workplace as CBN Governor in 2014 the naira exchanged for N164 for a greenback. Immediately, within the arms of Emefiele and the APC, the naira has tumbled to close N600 to a greenback, placing the nation’s economic system on its knees.

Painfully, below the management of Emefiele, the CBN has failed in its core mandate of managing the economic system and took a dive into propaganda, with claims that don’t replicate the cruel financial actuality on the bottom,” the assertion learn.

The PDP due to this fact urged the EFCC to not “enable this revelation to be swept below the carpet because it borders on severe financial sabotage which sanctions are clearly spelt out below our legal guidelines.”
