Ogun: Four abducted Chinese workers regain freedom after payment of ransom

Four Chinese workers who were kidnapped last Wednesday in Ogun State have regained their freedom.

recalled that the Chinese who were among the expatriates handling the Lagos-Ibadan standard guage railway project were kidnapped at a village between Oyo and Ogun States border.

Our correspondent learnt that the incident occurred at Adeaga/Alaagba village in Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun state.

Recall that a police officer who was guarding the construction workers was killed during the kidnap operation.

It was gathered that some of the weapons which belonged to the deceased police officer were allegedly taken away by the abductors.

Our correspondent, however, gathered that the four victims have regained their freedom.

They were freed by thier abductors on Monday.

A source close to the company handling the railway project, CCECC told a source from DAILY POST that some undisclosed amount of money was paid as ransom to the kidnappers before the abducted workers were released on Monday.

Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the release of the victims on Monday.

Oyeyemi noted that the abducted Chinese workers were released by their captors after a manhunt was launched by the police.

He, however, did not give details on how the four Chinese workers were released by the gunmen.
