Nigerian Man Locked Up His Own Children Inside A Water Drum And Starved Them In Lagos

In what will come across as a really startling development, a Nigerian man has been arrested for locking up his two children inside an empty water drum.

The man reportedly locked the kids inside the drum because they ate food given to them by a neighbor, according to PM Express.

Martins Omotoyosi, who lives at Lawani Ode Palace, Oke Odo area of New London Estate, Baruwa, Ipaja, Lagos state, with his children, Dorca, 8 and Oreofe 6, was arrested by police officers from the Ipaja division.

The children were also immediately rescued from the water drum they had been locked in.

Mr Martins was married to the victims’ mother but she left years ago over domestic violence, PM Express reports. Martins then transferred the violence to his children, neighbours told the publication.

Victor Adeoye, the landlord of the house where Martin Omotoyosi resides, told the publication that Mr Martin locked his children inside his apartment and left without any food from morning till evening until when one of the neighbours took food to them to eat.

When Martins returned, his children told him a neighbour had brought food for them which they ate.

It angered Mr Martins that his children had collected food from their neighbour, so he allegedly beat them before locking them inside a water drum.

Residents got wind of this and decided to confront the father but police intervened and arrested him.

Police sources confirmed the incident and said that the DPO has transferred the matter to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Command for more investigation, according to PM Express.

The victims will be taken to the Welfare Department for care.
