Lagos has overpowered COVID-19 third wave – Gov Sanwo-Olu

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said they have successfully overpowered the third wave of COVID-19 in the state.

Sanwo-Olu stated this on Friday while speaking at the 61st Independence Day parade at the Agege Stadium.

According to the governor, they were already taking proactive measures to banish the virus from the state completely.

On July 11, Sanwo-Olu warned Lagosians about a third wave, following a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases recorded in the state.

On August 2, the federal government declared that Nigeria was experiencing the third wave of infections.

Speaking at the end of August, Sanwo-Olu said Lagos state has seen a surge in severe cases, adding that the number of oxygen cylinders used rose from 75 per day to 400 within the third wave.
