Jos Killings – Lalong Vows To Resist Religious Colouration

Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong on Monday described the attacks and killings within Jos North, Riyom and Bassa LGAs of the state as the handiwork of criminal elements in the state.

Lalong stated this at Plateau Specialist Hospital when he went with the IGP team of Investigators to see the condition of those admitted in the hospital due to the injuries they sustained during the Saturday skirmishes along Rukuba Road Jos.

Speaking at the hospital, Lalong warned that the state government would no longer tolerate any further acts of violence in parts of the state by crisis merchants.

He further added that the 24 hours curfew imposed on Jos North local government Area will remain, while that of the dusk to dawn curfew in Jos South and Bassa, is still in force.

Lalong who made on a spot assessment of the affected areas alongside the head of the Inspector General Special Squad DIG Sanusi Lemu and his team said, ”Plateau people want to continue to stay in peace but criminal elements are always working to take us backwards in which we as a government would resist .”

Lalong again condemned the killings and further ordered security agencies to identify and arrest the perpetrators with immediate effect.

In his words “This is a clear act of criminality, all those who perpetrated this acts are criminals, nobody would take us back to the days of religious crisis”.

He said as the Governor of Plateau would not allow these acts of criminality to continue.

Lalong also warned trouble makers bent on fomenting trouble in the State to desist as the government will not allow any form of lawlessness to disrupt the peace of the State.

“Citizens must comply with the curfew imposed in Jos North, Jos South, Bassa .”
