Buhari Asks MD To Step Aside For Probe Of NPA, Appoints An Interim Replacement

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the recommendation of the Ministry of Transportation, with Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi as Minister, for the setting up of an Administrative Panel of Inquiry to investigate the Management of the Nigerian Ports Authority.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

Shehu said the President has also approved that the Managing Director, Hadiza Bala-Usman, should step aside while the investigation is carried out.

Bala-Usman is to be replaced in acting capacity by Mohammed Koko.

Shehu said the panel is to be headed by the Director, Maritime Services of the Ministry of Transportation, while the Deputy Director, Legal of the same ministry will serve as Secretary.

Other members of the panel will be appointed by Amaechi, the statement by the presidential spokesman on Thursday said.
