Mrs. Ella, the married woman who gained attention over the weekend after a video surfaced of her husband, Mr. Lekan, revealing that she secretly owned properties without his knowledge, has shared her side of the story.
During a recent interview, a distraught Mr Lekan said he recently found out that his wife owns several businesses and properties including the house they have lived in for years, yet she increased the house rent every year.
His revelation sparked a debate online with many Nigerians, mostly men, berating the woman for hiding her assets from her husband.
Ms Ella has now come out to speak her truth. In the same interview, she revealed that her actions is based on a childhood trauma she had.
She stated that she witnessed her mum strive so much to make her father successful and that when she fell ill and needed him, he turned his back on her. She disclosed that her mum was a very enterprising businesswoman and all the properties she acquired while married were in her father’s name.
She said her father could have just sold one of such properties to cater to her mum’s medical expenses but he failed to do so.
She said due to that experience, she vowed not to ever make the same mistake her mum made.
