Inter Miami defender Jordi Alba has commented on teammate Lionel Messi’s recent return to the Nou Camp.
Recall that Messi was spotted inside the redeveloped Nou Camp Stadium on Sunday, sparking rumours of a possible return to Barcelona.
The Argentine forward left Barcelona to join Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent in August 2021.
The 38-year-old posted a picture of himself inside the stadium, writing: “Last night I returned to a place I miss with my soul.”
However, when asked if he [Alba] would return to Camp Nou like Messi, Alba said on the programme El Larguero: “No, no, no (laughs). Messi is the greatest player of all time, and he deserves to have the key to Camp Nou. I will go to watch matches with my family and enjoy it in another way. Messi didn’t say anything to me about this; to be honest, I never asked him either. It was my father who told me about it, but this isn’t a topic I’m particularly concerned about. I have always been able to handle pressure well, whether it’s criticism or praise.”
Alba and Messi were former teammates at Barcelona during their time together at Camp Nou.
