Oshodi court jails eight for phone snatching in Lagos

A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos, has sentenced eight suspects to six months’ imprisonment for alleged involvement in phone snatching and other related offences.

The defendants were apprehended earlier on Thursday during a dawn operation by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, around the Mile 2 pedestrian bridge, a location notorious for frequent phone snatching incidents.

The convicts were identified as Anthony Osinachi (21), Victor Onuoha (45), Rowland Ede (25), Daniel Chisom (24), Emmanuel Chukwu (35), Ogbonnaya Uchechi (18), Godday Eke (28), and Benjamin G. (30).

They were subsequently arraigned before the Bolade Magistrate Court, where they all pleaded guilty to the charges.

The court thereafter sentenced each of them to six months’ imprisonment.
