Dayo Amusa, the popular Nollywood actress, has been elected as the National Vice President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria following the guild’s national election held in Benin City, Edo State.
The development was confirmed in a statement released by her media office on Monday, December 8, 2025.
The statement said that her new role reflects the trust members of the guild have in her long years of work and her dedication to the growth of the organisation.
Amusa said she plans to bring fresh ideas, order, and steady service to the AGN Secretariat as she steps into the national position.
She added that she hopes her experience in acting and film production will help her push for better opportunities for Nigerian actors and actresses across the country.
The actress, known for her roles in many Nollywood films and for producing works such as the Yoruba movie Dewunmi Iberu, said she wants the Nigerian movie industry to grow stronger and take its rightful place in national development.
She also serves as the Vice President of the Ijebu Pride Network, an initiative founded by Bashorun Femi Branch to bring together top entertainers from Ijebuland. The group celebrates the culture and heritage of both Ijebuland and Remoland in Ogun State.
Earlier, Tori News reported that Rita Daniels, mother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, lost her bid to lead the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
She was one of the popular contenders in the election, which was held on Saturday, December 6, 2025, to choose a successor for the outgoing president, Emeka Rollas.
Her main opponent was the current National Secretary, Abubakar Yakubu, who eventually won the contest.
