NSCDC arrests eight suspected vandals in Abuja

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command, has apprehended eight individuals suspected of vandalizing public infrastructure across various locations in the nation’s capital.

While presenting the suspects at the Command headquarters in Wuse, Abuja, NSCDC Commandant for the FCT, Olusola Odumosu, said the arrests are part of an ongoing campaign against vandals.

Four of the suspects were caught at the Idu Layout CITEC around 2:10 am with vandalized solar panel poles while the others were arrested along the Bannex-Gishiri axis, attempting to transport five previously vandalized street light poles at about 1:30 am.

Items recovered included five vandalized large street light poles, one vandalized solar panel pole, and over forty pieces of iron rods,” the commandant noted.

Following the arrests, Odumosu expressed concern over the damage to public infrastructure by criminals and warned those involved in sabotage to leave Abuja.

We will not permit the efforts of the Hon Minister of FCT in infrastructural development to be undermined by individuals acting against the state,” he stated.
