Hope Uzodinma, the governor of Imo State, asserted on Thursday that Nigeria is not a merit-driven country.
He pointed out that the Nigerian system needs to figure out how to honor and encourage merit.
At the Yoruba Tennis Club event in Lagos State, Uzodinma gave a speech on patriotism and citizenship. He stated, “I think there must be a way to drive and balance this.” We have to establish an environment that fosters merit and allows everyone to flourish.
The governor also provided an explanation for why Nigerians are losing their sense of patriotism, stating that in order to revive the spirit of patriotism among the people, the relevant parties must make amends.
