FG Found Violating Rights During #EndSARS Protest, According to an ECOWAS Court

It has been determined that the Nigerian government violated human rights when it responded to the #EndSARS demonstration in October 2020.

Articles 1, 5, 6, 9, 10, and 11 of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, among other international human rights standards, were violated by the Nigerian government’s actions, especially its use of force at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos, according to a ruling made on Wednesday by the community court of justice of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The Nigerian government was mandated by the court to provide N2 million in compensation to every victim listed in the lawsuit, according to Cable News.
