The Abdullaho Ganduje-led Kano State Government has announced the lifting of the dawn-to-dusk curfew imposed due to tensions following the results of the governorship and state assembly elections.

It has been reported that the Kano State Government made this known in a statement on Monday night by the tate Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Muhammad Garba.

Garba said: “The decision to lift the curfew was made after a careful review of the situation and the relative calm throughout the state.”

He called on commercial banks, public servants, and the people of the state to go about their normal business.

“We urge the people to go about their legitimate business without fear of molestation or harassment,” he added.

The commissioner also thanked the people of the state for their cooperation during the curfew period.

“We appreciate the cooperation of the people during the period of the curfew. We urge them to continue to maintain peace and order,” he said.

Recall that residents of Kano State on Monday ignored the dawn-to-dusk curfew imposed by the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and took to the streets to celebrate the outcome of the state’s governorship election.

Governor Ganduje had announced a dawn-to-dusk curfew in the state to prevent the breakdown of law and order after the Independent National ElectorL Commission (INEC) declared the candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Abba Yusuf as the winner of the 2023 governorship contest in the state.

The defeat of the incumbent deputy governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nasir Gawuna had caused tension in the state.
