The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Anambra State has issued a stern warning to political parties not to bring Point of Service (PoS) machines to polling units tomorrow during the governorship and state assembly election.

This is as the Anambra State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Queen Elizabeth Agwu cautions political parties participating in the Saturday polls against vote buying.

Agwu as learnt by Naija News warned that any poling unit agent caught in the act of vote buying would be dealt with in accordance with the Electorate Act 2022 as amended.

The Anambra INEC REC told pressmen at the commission’s Headquarters in Awka on Friday that any agents caught in the act of vote buying would be dealt with appropriately regardless of the party they belong to.

Giving updates on the distribution of sensitive materials ahead of the polls, she said “It is a tradition that we normally move our materials, particularly, the sensitive materials to the local governments, from the local governments to the RAC centres [and] to the polling units.

“We have 21 local governments and we have watched and distributed our materials down, most especially the ballot papers that are meant for the State Assembly elections and this has been properly and systematically outlined so that there won’t be a mix-up.”

While assuring that by 8:30 am, voting is expected to commence across the polling units, Agwu, revealed that “all issues concerning BVAS for the election have been ratified for optimal performance.”
