Atiku: Wike, G5 Governors About To Commit Political Suicide – Dino Melaye

On Friday (today), the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign council, Dino Melaye, said the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike and the G5 governors are about to mark their political suicide by failing to support their party’s candidate in the 2023 election.

It has been reported that Melaye said this during a chat with Arise TV today. According to Melaye, the five aggrieved governors’ refusal to back PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is a slope down to the end of their political careers.

Melaye who boasted that Nigerians, even those from the All Progressives Congress (APC), have vowed to vote for the winning side (Atiku/Okowa ticket he means), said the G5 governors have no reason not to support Atiku in the coming election.

News360 info reports that the G-5 made up of Governor Wike, Seyi Makinde (Oyo) Samuel Ortom (Benue) State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia) are demanding the resignation of the national chairman of the PDP, Iyorchia Ayu.

They challenged the leadership of the party to allow a Southerner to replace Ayu for the position.

Reacting, however, to the governor’s actions ahead of the 2023 elections, Melaye said on Friday that the aggrieved governors have no justification for their withdrawal of support for Atiku.

He said: “They (the G-5 governors) have no reason whatsoever to say they’re not going to support the candidate of their party. But I’ve made the statement that if they fail to support the presidential candidate of their party, and they themselves are running for elections, then they should be ready to celebrate their political obituaries.

Every part of this country, including their various States, candidates and party faithful, even APC members, have decided that they’re going to vote the winning team, and that is the Atiku-Okowa ticket.”

Melaye observed that about three of the aggrieved party chieftains are interested in going to the Senate, and one of them wants to return as governor under the PDP.

He said: “So I don’t know what diabolic means they will use to dump the presidential candidate of their party and then advocate for another candidate outside their party. That will be a new trend in politics globally.

So I advise that they don’t go that way, because if they do, I want to say politically, they will be like a dying horse doing the last kick.”
