Keyamo Speaks On His Removal As APC Presidential Campaign Council Spokesman

The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, has denied a report that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered his removal as the spokesman of the All Progressives Congres (APC) Presidential Campaign Council.

A news platform had reported that Buhari directed Keyamo’s removal as the spokesman of the campaign council over alleged constant demarketing of his administration despite being a serving minister.

“Buhari has asked for the removal of Festus Keyamo as the party’s campaign spokesperson. The President accused him of always de-marketing his regime, describing the government in which he is a minister as a failed regime.

He has been described as a loose cannon who is daily demarketing his regime as a failed regime. The cabal members are not happy,” a presidential source told SaharaReporters.

The source added that the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, was also said to have insisted on his removal following the latest interview on Channels Television.

According to the source, the Presidency has already informed the party leadership about the call for his removal.

“The SSG had to insist on Keyamo’s removal after his reckless outburst on Channels TV yesterday (Sunday). They have already informed the party leadership about this,” he added.

However, in a tweet on Monday via his Twitter handle, Keyamo refuted the report that President Buhari has ordered his removal, describing it as fake news.

He accused the opposition of planting fake stories to destabilise the ranks of the ruling party, saying that the move was the height of the panic mode.

He wrote: “Very funny fake news. When people feel uncomfortable with the uncompromising defence of your mandate, they promote such fake news to achieve a purpose. The opposition thinks they can plant stories to destabilise our ranks. This is the height of the panic mode they find themselves.”
