ASUU: I Am Deeply Concerned, There Are Saboteurs In Buhari’s Govt – Yahaya Bello

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has hinted that the activities of saboteurs in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari are part of what is responsible for the lingering strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Governor Bello however vowed that such persons whom he described as ‘Judas’ would soon be exposed.

It was reported that he stated this on Wednesday during an interview with Arise TV while speaking on the lingering ASUU strike which commenced on February 14.

Commenting on the strike, the Governor lamented that the future of Nigerian children is what is at stake.

He however cautioned the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) not to take law into their own hands as part of efforts to see an end to the strike action.

He said; “I am deeply concerned about our children’s future that is being toyed with. I tackled the issue of education strikes in Kogi state and there is nothing such as strikes. Unfortunately, this is part of the saboteurs within this administration and outside. Let me admonish the NANS, do not take laws into your hands.

Government Is Deeply Concerned
The Kogi State Governor insisted that the government and all stakeholders are concerned and working on how to resolve the lingering issues.

Bello urged that politics should be separated from the ASUU strike.

“Everyone including Bola Tinubu and the president is deeply concerned and what should have been done is to remove the political aspects from ASUU and at the appropriate time, we are going to point out to you those that are responsible.

“There are areas we need to work on but in every system, there are saboteurs. There are Judas and we have them abound in this APC administration of President Muhammadu Buhari — from the inner caucus to the outside,” he said.

Buhari Administration Can Do More
Despite praising the efforts of the Buhari government particular on infrastructure, Governor Bello pointed out that there are areas that can still be improved upon.

In his words, “But that is not to say there are no areas to be improved upon in this government. But the fact is that there are saboteurs. Still, in the midst of all of that, the country is moving on. The president continues to improve our infrastructure.”

Court Orders ASUU To Resume Work
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has been ordered to call off its nationwide industrial strike.

The varsity staff union were ordered by the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) on Wednesday, September 21, to reopen all public universities and return to their duty posts after seven months of shutting down the learning institutions.

News360 info understands that the NICN directive was coming following a petition before the court by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, on behalf of the federal government.
