Armed Robbers Raid Several Banks In Kogi, Zoom Away With Huge Cash

Daredevil armed robbers on Tuesday raided several banks in Ankpa, Kogi State and successfully escaped with a huge amount of money.
Some of the banks attacked by the robbers include UBA, Zenith and FirstBank. They also attacked POS operators in the vicinity of the banks they robbed and left with their money.

The thieves, numbering about twenty were said to have arrived in the town at about 2 pm in several cars, buses and motorcycles.

They reportedly started their operation from UBA before proceeding to Zenith Bank and later FirstBank.

An eyewitness quoted by Daily Trust said the robbers operated for almost an hour, before driving out of the town, shooting sporadically.

“They zoomed off via Okpo road, but no one could come out as they kept firing. Most Ankpa residents are still hiding,” he said.

As at the time of filing the report, it was unclear if lives were lost during the attack or the number of persons injured.

“We cannot rule out casualties. The attack went on for over an hour” said Ahmed, a resident of Ankpa.

Police Restore Normalcy In Jibowu, Lagos
The operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have restored normalcy in the Jibowu area of the state following an earlier disturbance by hoodlums in the area.

Naija News gathered residents were forced to desert their shops and the streets on Tuesday after multiple gunshots were heard in the area.

It was gathered that the pandemonium started after some hoodlums engaged themselves in a supremacy battle. The development according to reports had caused traffic gridlock, paralysing commercial activities in the area.

However, the Lagos Police spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin while confirming the earlier disturbance, said normalcy has been restored and operatives have taken over the area to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
