Troops intercept abducted Chibok girl Mary Ngoshe in Borno

Troops of the Nigerian Army have intercepted one Mary Ngoshe believed to be one of the nearly 300 girls abducted by insurgent group Boko Haram from Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State on 14 April, 2014.

Ngoshe and her son were intercepted by troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade on patrol around Ngoshe in Borno State on 14 June 2022, Nigerian Army said in a post on its Facebook page.

“Troops of 26 Task Force Brigade on patrol around Ngoshe in Borno State on 14 June 2022 intercepted one Mrs Mary Ngoshe and her son.

“She is believed to be one of the abducted girls from GGSS Chibok in 2014. Further exploitation ongoing, the Army said in the statement without giving further explanation.

About 276 students were kidnapped on April 14, 2014 by Boko Haram terrorists in GSS Secondary School Chibok.

The kidnapping caused a global outrage, with calls for the rescue of the girls by global figures, including then First Lady of the United States, Michelle Obama.

About 103 of the girls were freed following negotiations between the Nigerian government and the Boko Haram insurgents

Some of the girls have also been rescued during military operations with babies like the case of Ngoshe.
