Popular Nigerian activist and co-covener of Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG), Aisha Yesufu has shown her support for Presidential flagbearer of Labour Party, Peter Obi.
Using the name Mr Obi’s supporters call themselves OBIdients, Yesufu tweeted that Mr Obi is the only person who will be obedient to the people if elected president.
“We need a President and not an emperor and the only person that is going to be ‘OBEDIENT’ or ‘OBIDIENT’ is Peter Obi @PeterObi!” The BBOG co-founder wrote.
“Desperation must not make you forfeit your rights! The #OfficeOfTheCitizen remains the highest office in the land!”
Yesufu’s endorsement of Obi has put OBIdient on the Nigerian trend list.
Obi resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party last month to join Labour Party where he emerged as the party’s presidential candidate. Political economist Prof Pat Utomi and others stepped down for him.
Obi is seen by many as the “third force” who would pose a strong challenge against Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, the two presidential candidates of Nigeria’s major political parties.
