Gunmen kill beer parlour owner, others in Anambra

Gunmen have killed a beer parlour owner and others in Anambra State.

They also injured others in an attack on Friday evening at Osumenyi, in Nnewi South local government area, the community of billionaire business man, Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu.

Though an eyewitness told The Nation that five corpses were seen around the arena, another source said the casualties were more.

The attack took place at a joint in Obofia village in the community, popularly known as Uto Ndu, with the owner as one of the victims.

But when contacted, Anambra Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu, told The Nation that the Command had not received such report

But one of the Senior Police Officers in the Command, who pleaded anonymity, confirmed the incident, adding that it happened around 8.30pm on Friday.

The source further said that security operatives had been deployed to the area and it’s environs.

A source said: “The gunmen stormed the place and opened fire on customers who were drinking and having fun and in the process, they killed the people ,including the owner of the restaurant, identified as Ụtọ Ndụ.”

In the last one month, gunmen had been targetingbeer parlours and local government headquarters in Anambra State for attacks.
