The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has stalled the extradition of suspended Deputy Commissioner Police, Abba Kyari to the United States.

The planned hearing of the application for the extradition of Kyari was stalled after Malami requested time to file some documents.

The lawyer to the AGF, Pius Akutah at the mention of the case on Wednesday requested time to respond to processes served by Kyari’s lawyer, Mahmud Magaji.

According to Akutah, he filed for an extension of time following the late response by Kyari’s lawyer.

The lawyer of the suspended DCP did not object to Akutah’s call for an extension of time.

Justice Ekwo in his ruling adjourned the hearing till June 2.

An extradition case had been filed against the former head of the IGP Intelligence Response Team following his link with confessed internet fraudster, Abbas Ramon, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

There were reports that Kyari was involved in a fraudulent activity carried out by Hushpuppi, an allegation which was denied by an embattled police officer.
