Boko Haram-ISWAP: Soldier assisting terrorists commits suicide after naming other collaborators

A Nigerian Army personnel arrested for aiding Boko Haram/Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) is dead.

It is still unclear if he was working for either of the terrorist organizations or both.

The member of the Armed Forces committed suicide while being escorted to the barracks on Tuesday.

His cover was blown by military intelligence which exposed his involvement in the massacre at brothels and beer parlours in Yobe State.

Identified as Lance Corporal Jibrin, he was involved in the attacks in Geidam and Gashua towns. More than a dozen civilians were killed.

“He was apprehended while attempting to escape after he learnt that his movements and activities with terrorists have been discovered.

After being handcuffed, he skillfully snatched a gun from one of the escorts and killed himself.

Investigation is ongoing to nab other suspects within the service”, a source told PRNigeria.

Jibrin, an instructor with his Army Battalion in Geidam, was initially not seen for days, DAILY POST gathered Wednesday night.

He was later sighted among the Boko Haram/ISWAP fighters that invaded the Yobe communities.

A team, including the Battalion Commander Officer, tracked his phone and found that Jibrin was at Gashua, many kilometers from his duty post.

On Tuesday, the soldier boarded a bus to Gombe State, in disguise, but was intercepted at a checkpoint in Gashua.

Jibrin, who implicated some other military personnel, made revelations about Boko Haram, ISWAP, the insurgents, his participation, etc.

While in transit to Geidam, he disarmed one of his escorts, overpowered another and shot himself dead.
