Presidency: Moghalu Decides On Dumping ADC For Either APC, PDP

Nigerian political economist, Kingsley Moghalu has stated categorically that he remains a member and 2023 presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress.

Moghalu in a Twitter thread on Sunday morning, April 24, 2023, revealed that he has been consulted by both the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to pick their tickets for the 2023 presidential election.

The economists has, however, turned down the offers, pledging his allegiance to the ADC.

Moghalu revealed in the opening of his thread that he has also been wooed by a Coalition of 57 Northern Youth Support Groups under the leadership of the Arewa Youth Assembly to contest the 2023 presidential under the umbrella of the APC.

The economists expressed his gratitude to the political groups for their calls and observation of his vision for Nigeria.

Moghalu said he cannot prevent groups or individuals from publicly expressing appreciation of his vision for Nigeria and what he bring to the table as a potential President, even though he remained a candidate of the ADC and nothing has changed.

Moghalu’s statement reads: “I have become aware of and have carefully reviewed the invitation and endorsement of my humble self by the Coalition of 57 Northern Youth Support Groups under the leadership of the Arewa Youth Assembly to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), issued at their press conference at Arewa House in Kaduna on Thursday April 21, 2022.

“For the sake of clarity, I would like to state as follows: I have frequently been approached by supporters and members of both the All Progressive Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party to join and seek the presidential ticket of either of the two leading political parties in the country.

“As I have informed the Arewa Youth Assembly coalition, I remain a member and presidential aspirant of @ADCNig .I cannot, however, prevent groups or individuals from publicly expressing appreciation of my vision for Nigeria and what I bring to the table as a potential President.”

“I am humbled by the kind words and appreciation of the Arewa Youth Assembly and its affiliate organizations. I believe this invitation/endorsement is a practical demonstration of how widely my vision for our country and my capacity to offer transformative leadership to it is accepted across the board – in all parts of Nigeria, across partisan political divides, and across ethnic and religious affiliations.

“It is a recognition of the winning potential of a Kingsley Moghalu presidential candidacy in 2023, and the national healing potential should I emerge as the winner of the presidential election,” Moghalu noted.

He added: “It also is a recognition of my political impact on the ground, despite my having insisted on a paradigm-shift approach to leadership selection, politics and governance in Nigeria.

“On a careful reading of the endorsement statement, although the statement is about me, it nevertheless appears to be directed primarily at the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, H. E. President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, rather than to me personally.”
