Video Of El-Rufai Attacking Jonathan For Pardoning Alamieyeseigha Resurfaces Online

Netizens have dug up an old video of the Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai lambasting former President Goodluck Jonathan for granting a presidential pardon to a convicted former Governor.

The video which is gaining attention on social media shows El-Rufai angrily carpeting Jonathan and accusing him of promoting corruption for granting a state pardon to former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.

The video resurfaced online at a time mixed reactions have followed the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari through the Council of State to grant state pardons to former governors Jolly Nyame and Joshua Dariye of Taraba and Plateau States respectively.

In the old video, Elrufai was clearly seen criticizing Jonathan, accusing him of sending a wrong signal in the fight against corruption by pardoning a convicted person.

He accused the former Nigerian leader of encouraging and rewarding corruption.

He had said, “Nobody says you should eradicate corruption but don’t go around pardoning convicted people that have been convicted by regular cost for corruption and then you said you are fighting corruption, you are sending the wrong signal; not only to those engaging in corruption but also to young people who see that there is reward in being corrupt, this is what Jonathan is doing.
