Accreditation for the Osun State All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election will commence today by 8 am while voting will start immediately after the last person on the line is accredited.

However, a few minutes into the exercise, reports reaching Naija News this morning, confirmed that the election committee has sued for peace among all the governorship candidates under the party.

A heavy presence of security personnel has been reported in Osogbo, the state capital of Osun.

This is as the committee assured of a free, fair, and credible primary election for the party on Saturday.

Security operatives sighted in action include the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, the Nigerian Correctional Service and Amotekun Corps.

The assurance was given earlier on Friday by Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who has been appointed to chair the election committee.

It has been reported that three aspirants vying to become APC flag bearers in the July 16 governorship election were present at the stakeholders meeting held in Osogbo, the state capital on Friday.

The aspirants include the incumbent state governor, Gboyega Oyetola; former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun Yusuff and a former Secretary to the State Government, Moshood Adeoti.

Speaking at the event yesterday, Governor Abdulrazaq said the committee was fully prepared to maintain peace, urging members of the party to conduct themselves peacefully, Naija News reports.

The election committee chairman said: “We came here with peace. Our party is a peaceful party and we are going to do everything to ensure that peace is maintained throughout the entire process. Fairness, equity, justice, credibility and peace are our watchwords.

I want you all to come out peacefully and in large numbers to vote for your preferred aspirant. What we are looking for is peace and I can assure you that we will leave no stone unturned to ensure a peaceful, free and fair exercise.”
