2023: I Told Buhari I Wanted To Replace Him – Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Saturday revealed why he told President Muhammadu Buhari about his presidential ambition.

The former Governor of Lagos while speaking at the Palace of the Alake, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo noted that he informed Buhari because he is the first citizen in the country before informing everyone.

Tinubu visited that ruler of Egbaland to seek his royal blessing on his presidential ambition.

Recall that Tinubu during his visit to Buhari at the Aso Villa in January informed him of his intention to contest in the 2023 general elections.

Tinubu during the closed-door meeting with the monarch said he decided to inform the President of his ambition following calls from his supporters and friends to run for President.

The APC leader said, “I told the President I want to replace him and I don’t want to offend him. I told the President that I want to step in his shoes but not step on his toes.

I told him as the number one citizen, I should start my Presidential bid by informing him first, and he (Buhari) told me to inform the whole world, and I have done that.”
