Ganduje Mourns As Accident Claims 5 College Students

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has expressed shock over the death of five students in an auto accident on Kano-Katsina road.

The students were said to be on their way to Katsina to attend the inauguration of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) Zone A when their bus had an accident.

They are Abubakar Sulaiman, Tahir A. Dalhatu, Maryam Abdullahi, A’isha Wada-Abdulsalam and Usman Abubakar-Abubakar.

The first four were from Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, while the fifth person was from the Federal College of Education, Kano.

It was gathered that those that sustained injuries had been receiving treatment at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) with appeals for blood donations for them trending on social media.

Ganduje, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Abba Anwar, in a statement yesterday, said the information was sad and tormenting.

“This is a tragedy for the state and the nation in general. They are young, dedicated, and responsible youth who chose to pursue education in order to move society forward. They left us when we need them, but our creator, their creator, the Almighty Allah needed them the most,” he said.

Ganduje condoled with their families, the Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education, Kumbotso, the Federal College of Education, Kano, and all students, over the tragic incident.

Meanwhile, the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS) has ordered 3-day mourning over the demise of the students.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mikail Abdullahi, it’s Public Relations Officer for zone A.
