An opinion poll conducted by a private firm, FREDDAN Continental Services, has revealed that eight out of 10 residents of Lagos State threw their weights behind Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu over the recently-introduced Lagos State Value Added Tax (VAT) bill and the bill for the prohibition of open grazing in the state.

Respondents to the poll believed that the domestication of the collection of VAT by the state will improve the capacity of the state government to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.

According to a statement by the Executive Director of FREDDAN, Mr Olufemi Lawson, the poll was supervised by the organisation’s team made up of experienced development experts, media enterprenuers and data analysts.

The two top issues raised by the poll was in line with the prevailing subject of discussion, among Nigerians, particularly Lagos residents, at who are the largest contributors to the VAT regime in the country and the herders/farmers conflicts, occasioned uncontrolled open grazing of cattle.

“The FREDDAN SMS poll was conducted Sunday through Wednesday, a period where over 50,000 residents were contacted through the Short Message Services on major telecom networks spreading across the state.
