Senator Rochas Okorocha, representing the senatorial district of Imo West, said becoming governor of Imo state made him poorer.
Okorocha said this when he appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics while denying claims he acquired properties with government funds.
According to the former governor, people seem to have so easily forgotten that he was successful before he became governor in 2011.
Okorocha, therefore, challenged anyone to present evidence that he was corrupt and mismanaged Imo State funds during his tenure.
“I challenge anyone to prove that I acquired a property with any government funds,” Okorocha said.
I think people have forgotten that I was Rochas before I became governor of Imo State; I think they completely forgot.
In fact, becoming a governor has made me even poorer than I was in the past. I don’t know if I have acquired a property here in Abuja, there is none”.
Okorocha wondered how he could have stolen the meager monthly allowance the state receives from the federal government.
