Enugu International Airport prepared for flight resumption – Minister

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, says the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu is prepared for resumption of flights.

Sirika said this on Saturday in Enugu after the last round of assessment of restoration works in the air terminal preceding the authority resuming of the complex.

The Federal Government had in August 2019 shut down Akanu Ibiam International Airport over security reasons.

A portion of the reasons incorporate its terrible runway and landing helps, the nearness of market near the air terminal drawing in feathered creatures, prompting steady bird strikes.

Others incorporated an inappropriate arrangement of the state radio broadcast pole legitimately confronting the runways.

Notwithstanding, the Minister, who arrived at the air terminal on Saturday evening with a private jet, No.5N-PAZ, said he was pleased to have been on the flight that arrived in the air terminal.

Sirika said he had shown up in front of the August 30 authority returning of the air terminal to assess the status of the office for flight resumption.

“We are prepared for the authority resuming of this air terminal tomorrow and I am glad that we have had the option to accomplish this as booked,” Sirika said.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that while the runway and other subordinate works, including the lighting framework, are prepared, work is as yet progressing in the gathering, border fence, drainages and main gate.
