A painter in Ibadan has landed in police net after murdering a 65 year old woman to steal N2 million from her account.
Lady Evangelist Grace Ajibola of the Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Imole, Abeni Ibadan was killed by Niyi Abegunde a painter in Ibadan on Tuesday morning.
The painter killer now in police custody stole the ATM card of the deceased alongside her phone and other valuables.
According to reports from the police, the painter and the victim have known each other since November of 2019, when the former did a painting job the victim liked.
Since then he became a familiar face in the house of his victim, attending vigils and rubbing errands for the woman he would later murder.
Trouble allegedly stated after the lady Evangelist asked Mr. Adeniyi to withdraw some money for her from her account using her ATM card. This is where he supposedly saw that Lady Ajibola had N2 million in her savings account.
The painter thereafter came to the house on the morning of Tuesday, March 17 when the woman was alone and strangled her to death before fleeing with her ATM card.
The police tracked him down and arressted him in Akure after he withdrew N120,000 from the account of the deceased via an ATM machine.
