Deposed Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II has departed Awe, headquarters of Awe Local Government of Nasarawa State and is heading to Lagos.
It was learnt that the departure of the former Kano Emir followed an order of a high court in Abuja, which ruled that his banishment to Nasarawa State was illegal.
Sanusi left Awe after leading the Juamat congregational prayer at the palace of Sangarin Awe, Alhaji Isa Abubakar Umar at about 4:30pm, amidst tight security.
The deposed monarch was bound for Lagos via Lafia, the state capital, in the entourage of Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai who came to pay him solidarity visit at his new abode.
The former CBN Governor was banished to Nasarawa State by the Kano State government on grounds of insubordination a fortnight ago, amid criticism.
The family of the deposed monarch was accompanying him on the journey amid cheers from residents of Awe, who waved at him as he drove out of the ancient town.
