#Xenophobia: South African Police allegedly shoot Ghanaian footballer in both legs

A Ghanaian footballer in South Africa has been hospitalized after he was allegedly shot by South African Police as xenophobic attacks in the country continues.

The footballer identified as Arthur was reportedly shot in both legs at close-range at the Kempton Park on Sunday, September, 8.

Mr Arthur, who has been plying his trade in South Africa for the past two years claimed he did not commit any crime or had an argument with the police which resulted in the shooting.

It was also reported by Ghana Web that Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, H. E. George Ayisi Boateng rushed Mr. Arthur to the Grenclof Hospital in Pretoria upon hearing of the sad incident.

Hon. Ayisi Boateng was pictured with Arthur while on his hospital bed as he is currently responding to treatment.

This follows the recent xenophobic attacks on Nigerians and other nationals in South Africa.
